Macon-Bibb County commissioners approved spending $303,000 on new garbage cans and recycling bins during Tuesday’s commission meeting.
The county will purchase 5,000 garbage cans and 1,700 recycling bins after having trouble meeting requests for new cans in recent months. The recycling bins are part of an effort to improve curbside recycling in Macon-Bibb, county leaders have said.
The trash cans and recycling bins could begin being delivered as early as this week, said Assistant County Manager Charles Coney.
The city-county will have a surplus to meet additional requests after hearing from about 2,000 residents recently, he said.
