The Macon-Bibb Operations and Finance Committee approved the purchase of residential garbage cans at their meeting on Tuesday.
The new garbage cans for the county will cost just over $300,000. The purchase will consist of 5,000 trash cans and 1,700 recycling bins, totaling 6,700 cans.
The order comes in the middle of a shortage of bins in the area.
“Many persons have put in request through our online system, SeeClickFix,” said Assistant County Manager Charles Coney, “We recognize there are about 2,000 requests right now. We apologize for the delays.”
This vote will now go before the County Commission.
