MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The solid waste department has new trucks that will affect the way residents place their trash cans along the curb.
Effective January 4, county residents will receive bigger containers for recycling and city residents will get curb side recycling.
Paper products, plastics, metal containers and aluminum are some of the items that will now be placed in bins and wheeled out to the curb, the same day as trash pickup. Residents are reminded to make sure the handle of the trash can is facing the house.
All glass items should be taken to the following fire stations:
-Station 1 at (195 Coliseum Drive)
-Station 3 at (4065 Forsyth Road)
-Station 107-34 (3410 Jones Road)
-Station11-30 (3020 Riverside Drive)
“Most residents in the county is a bi-weekly collection, going forward this will be a weekly collection, happening every week,” explains Advanced Disposal General Manager, Adam Cochran.
On December 21, stickers will be distributed to residents notifying them on the change of day for pickup. If residents do not receive a sticker, the day of pickup will remain the same.
